Halloween Shopping

Well, I  can't believe we're in October again. But there so many wondrous experiences this year the leaves changing colour, the nights get darker and their just that spooky and mystical charm that only October seems to emit. Oh yeah, and it's Halloween that means it offers a chance to stock up on spooky decor for the year.

I was looking in the shops back in August for Halloween decor, I've felt disappointed with the years selection on offer but I've still managed to find some goodies. Also, my partner has pleaded with me to limit how much I purchase as we're running out of places to display for things. I've limited select few items. The allure and temptation to purchase more Halloween treasures have been difficult to resist the urge, but I definitely cope.

Like last year, Tk Maxx and their Home Sense Range stocked the most awesome items and it's probably where I've purchased the most stuff. Every year,  it seems to stock the best stuff.

Usually, I don't like birds but I do like owls and blackbirds. I think its years of my mam and gran having any form of bird decor is bad luck. I was planning to put this in my bathroom but opted for the sitting room.

I found this bottle with a crow/ raven I love it an thought it was really in unusually.

I loved these picture light frames I've loved them but wanted something a bit more me so, I found this one and had to have it.

I also found a few wooden signs for the kitchen and bathroom ( I have an appolthicary theme in the bathroom.

I  found these statues with a skull on top of some alchemy books that really enhances the apothecary. I have this sitting with my potion bottles.

I'm collecting an array of skulls in my bathroom, I found this one thats displaying in my bathroom.

I've love this wooden sign and felt perfect for the kitchen. It has gothic cottage feel.

I found these two bowels.

Disney Shop,

I found a Jack Skelleton travel bottle, great as reuseable bottle.

From Tiger, I got these two hair clips, I just love them and need to find the right ensemble to wear. them.

For years, all I've wanted is black sparkly pumpkin and I finally got one from Poundworld.

I found this Batty Halloween Bunton in John Lewis it's so cute, it has that Gothic country cottage feeling. It was on sale for half price, so I only paid £2.50. Its added some excitement to my fireplace.

From Poundland I found some goodies. I found two potion bottles that I put on display with the magic books in the bathroom.

I'm planning to displaying in craftroom when it gets orgnaised. I saw this last year and never got one, so I was happy to purchase one.

I found this owl, I'm still in two minds about purchasing it. Once I'll get my crafting room organised it'll look great.  I need to get the room rewired and plastered before I can start using it properly.

Even Superdrug had a range of Halloween Makeup, personally, I would use this all year long. A lot the local beauty bloggers have highlighted how amazing the Revolution eyeshadows palettes, but I haven't seen any palettes that appealed to me until now. I purchased three of Revolutions lipsticks for £6, a great for a bargain. I bought black sparkly high lighter for curiosity. I purchased three glitter liquid lipsticks in purple, black and green. I actually wore the green one . On Monday I wore it. I was surprised how it lasted around six hours for £3 I can't complain it really exceeded my expectations.

I purchased the limited edition Vanilla and Pumpkin body butter that seems to be perfect for the season and smell delicious.

A Sunday Evening at the Body Shop

I had a fun night on Sunday attending the exclusive Body Shop event at the Intu, Metrocentre. The Body Shop was kind enough to invite me. Since attending the store's last event I 've definitely become a fan of their products. I often use the Drops of Youth Liquard Peel and the body butters.

Before the event,  I met up with Macara from Macara's Space before the event. We were both feeling stoked

Gianni and Katie had organised the event to specifically for the local bloggers and vlogger community.  I was welcomed by the beauty assistants and offered a beverage of prosecco and nibbles. As usual, the Body Shop assistants know how to treat me by making feel me very special with their VIP treatment.

Katie and Gianni introduced themselves, thanked everyone for attending. They discussed the concept behind the blogger events, how the community played an important role in promoting the brand, and want to plan more events, particularly within the North East, things, are getting exciting.

Gianni had been instrumented in organising the fantastic night. With an array of complimentary treatments from therapeutic hand massages using their delicious spa body scrubs and moisturisers; makeovers with the latest makeup trends for autumn and even a Halloween option for anyone feeling brave.  They offered us to try out their range of Liquard Peels. (On a personal note, I use the Drops of Youth several times a week definitely feel its contributed to improving my skin conditions and acne breakouts.) We also got to try out their latest products. My favourite was the limited edition Pumpkin and vanilla products.

The Night also allowed us the first chance to see their Christmas Advent calendar. Allowing for a person to have new a present while counting down the days until Christmas.  It was interesting to see the Advent Calander but I think this would be a waste on me. It would make a lovely present for loved ones.

I loved how the Bodyshop had decorated and released a   small autumn collection to celebrate the spooky season; with the realise of their limited edition pumpkin and vanilla shower gel and body butter, that smell gorgeous. The Body Shop has a special deal on presently, purchase any three beauty products for £20, including the body butters. I can never resist a good bargain, I stocked on three tubs of the cream, I purchased two of the pumpkin and vanilla butter.

They even had plenty of inspiration for Halloween with pictures of lastest spooky makeup looks.  I wasn't feeling daring enough try out the Halloween options, the designs looked amazing.

The Body Shop are trying campaign to ban animal testing and asked us to sign their petition. To spread awareness they created a selfie both to promote the campaign on social media. So, we could take silly selfies by wearing a pair of bunnies ears or a polar bear mask.

A few of us posed a fun selfie. I wanted to be a polar bear rather than a bunny. On the left is Maraca and Pixie from Fashion Voyeur. Pixie's  a successful blogger, genuinely a lovely person with a no crap punk attitude, that I love.  I look a bit squinty eyed but who cares it was fun.

I even got to a have fun playing on the personalising machine making a sticker for my complementary body butter. I wasn't expecting that. I  all stocked up on body butters.

Surprisingly, we were all treated a goody bag containing, a liquid lipstick,  Oil of  life beauty cream, and a couple of samples their latest facial masks. I'm definitely going to pamper myself later.

Disclaimer: I was not paid or offered any form exchange to write this post.  I just like sharing my experiences of events or any products I use.

Halloween Coffee Sleeve

For a while, I 've wanted a new travel mug to have a cuppa before work. My other ones are either broken or the fairies have borrowed. (Translation I've lost them) .  Sometimes with patience, the universe has a strange way of providing for me. I won a free promotional travel mug on a promotion for a new bus service. The mugs great, however, the mug can get extremely hot and since I don't have milk in my tea even if  I add water it often hurts my hand. I decide to sew a travel cup sleeve.

I decided to make a mug mitten and since it's Halloween, it seemed appropriate to use my Halloween fabric.

I downloaded a free sewing coffee sleeve from Craftsy. Click on the link for it.)  However, this one has no instructions.

I added 1.5 cm for seam allowance

I pinned the sewing pattern and cut out the fabric while measuring the grain line and ensuring it was the same distance from the salvage line.

I ironed on the interfacing to add more structure to the fabric.

I added a lining to by using old pyjamas I pinned and cut the fabric

I sewed a narrow seam using a zipper foot and the narrow edge of the sewing plate as a guide for the seam. For the inside of the seam, I left on seam elastic. could insert the elastic. I pulled the sleeve to the right side. For the lining, I sewed it together trimmed the edges and insert into the sleeve.

I folded the un-sewn edge by folding the edges in side, pinned together,  inserted some elastic sewn  and sewn shut.

I hand sewed a button on the sleeve. I top stitched all the sleeve.

This is the final result, I'm very happy with it but it feels more like me.

Confession time

Since it didn't have instruction I actually cut the pattern the wrong way. So  I would recommend turning the pattern upside down so the writing will be upside down or it'll look like this. It does look odd. but I don't care, after using the sleeves it far more comfortable to hold.  I would also recommend adding between 1.5 to 2 cm around the paper pattern.
